Mad for Plaid- Check after check

Plaid is one of the most popular wardrobe prints, along with the familial, but less formal, stripe. From Burberry to Ralph Lauren, plaid, or check as it is often referred to, is a go-to print with a nod to classic style and sophistication.

There are many categories within this print family, glen plaid (more commonly known as the Prince of Wales), tartan, houndstooth and gingham to name a few. It’s also quite impossible to pick a favourite. Believe me, I’ve tried!

When I wear a checkered print, I feel special. It’s an ode to the British countryside, and to heritage, it makes you feel as though you are a part of something, a part of history. And although life isn’t a scene from The Crown or Downton Abbey, I do love dressing as if it is.

Plaid can be implemented into your wardrobe in many ways. If you aren’t confident about it, try a plain outfit with a checkered bag or blazer, or if you love plaid like I do, go all out and wear a matching plaid suit! Take it a step further by wearing a checked coat on top!

Plaid is super easy to wear. It’s sophisticated, heritage and easy to mix into your existing wardrobe.
